SUSE 10 unable to renew registration

Problem: SLES 10 (sp2) was unable to run online update due to expired subscription.  When tried to register using suse_register, curl displayed an error.

Fix:

1. go to /usr/share/curl
2. mv curl-ca-bindle.crt old_curl-ca-bundle.crt
3. wget http://support.novell.com/products/desktop/curl-ca-bundle.crt
4. curl -v https://secure-www.novell.com/home/
5. now run suse_register again.  Fixed!

Once successfully registered, yast2 works again!

SLES 11 sp 1 proxy setup for online update

1. check: /etc/sysconfig/proxy and configure the necessary proxy settings;
2. check: /etc/wgetrc and configure the necessary proxy settings.
3. if necessary, go to /etc/zypp/credentials.d/, remove NCCcredentials and register again.  The file contains user a/c and pwd to access https://nu.novell.com/......

Unable to authenticate GW when BACH is down

Problem: Unable to authenticate GW when BACH is down.

Diagnosis: GW on Mozart authenticates using LDAP on BACH.

Fix: GW on Mozart should authenticates using LDAP on Brahms

Procedures:

1. On ConsoleOne, choose "GroupWise System";

2. Tools > GroupWise System Operations > LDAP Servers;

3. Click "Add" to create an entry;

4. Pix 1;

5. Pix 2;

6. Remove all other entries.
